Shop safely on Safeoptions.co.uk

We hope you find our website easy to navigate and like the ease of shopping on safeoptions.co.uk. We want you to feel safe when shopping online and to have confidence in our website. Please therefore consider the following points when shopping with us.

Secure Shopping

We understand how important your personal information is and therefore we have taken steps to ensure that we store any information we collect in a highly secure way. Safe Options use the latest encryption technology to ensure we offer the most secure credit card transaction facility available. Safe Options use GEOTrust Extended SSL Validation to offer the utmost security for our customers. This is industry standard protocol.

To check that you are within a secure area of our website when providing personal information, a secure page has 'https' instead of 'http' at the front of the www.safeoptions.co.uk in your browser address window. Also, a small locked padlock will appear.

Safe Options also offer the latest debit/credit card security methods, including Verified by Visa, Mastercard® SecureCode™ and American Express SafeKey SM. These services enhance your security of your card account. To use these services you must first register with the bank or card issuer. Once you've registered you will have your own private password for each of your cards and be prompted to enter this when purchasing from safeoptions.co.uk and other websites online. Under no circumstance would we ever see this password though and you should not share it with anyone.

Your Password

If you register or place an order with Safe Options you will have the option to create a password. This would enable you to securely log back in to our website at any time. This has many advantages, for instance, saving you time placing new orders, checking the status of your current orders, viewing a history of orders you have placed with our company, keeping a wish list of items you may look to purchase in future, as well as many others.

When creating a password we recommend creating a unique password that you have not used on any other website. If criminals did gain access to one website that you have registered with, then having different passwords would protect access to your account on other websites. When you set a password, it’s best practice to use a mixture of numbers and characters. Most websites will set a minimum number of characters to use, but do avoid using obvious phrases like “password”, or easily available personal information like your name or phone number. It is also best practice to change your password on a regular basis.

Safe Options will never ask you for your password and you should never receive an e-mail from us requesting you to reset your password (unless you have requested this by telephone or through our website).
You can re-set your password on safeoptions.co.uk at any time by signing into your account, choosing Edit  within Preferences and ticking 'Change your password'.
If you've forgotten your password, just enter your email address on the 'Forgotten your password' page, and we'll email you with a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email to change your password.

We recommend that your chosen password is a minimum of 8 characters, and includes a minimum of 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter and at least 1 number.

Phishing

Phishing is the word used to describe when an attempt is made to trick someone into providing their confidential information, such as usernames, passwords, contact details, debit/credit card details, by falsely claiming to be a legitimate company when sending an e-mail to a user. These attempts are used to gain access to your private information which can then be used for identity theft and fraud.

As mentioned above, for this reason, Safe Options will never ask you to disclose your account password to us and the only instance you would get an e-mail from us relating to this, would be if you have requested one from our website or by telephoning us. If you receive an e-mail claiming to be from Safe Options and requesting that you reset your password, and you have not requested this, please do not click any links within the e-mail, nor respond to it. It would be appreciated if you could forward this onto us to investigate further.

If you ever receive an e-mail claming to be from Safe Options and you are unsure whether it is legitimate or not, please contact us through our website or by telephone ask us to verify it. Again, do not click any links or respond to the e-mail until we have verified it's authenticity. We may request that you forward the e-mail to us and if so, we will supply an e-mail address to send that to at the time.

Keeping your computer safe

Safe Options recommends that all of our visitors have up-to-date anti-virus software installed on their computers or devices. Some basic anti-virus software is available free to download and use but for more comprehensive cover you can choose subscription based software. Please make sure you keep this software turned on up-to-date. Please also ensure that your computer operating system is kept up-to-date.

When opening any emails on your computer, it's important to be careful. Don’t open attachments, download files or click on links unless you are sure that the e-mail has come from a reputable source, as they may contain viruses.

Finally, we also recommend that you backup your computer files from time. This not only keeps all of your precious files safe but if your computer was compromised, you would be able to restore all of your files onto a clean machine afterwards.
