After it reaches a temperature allowing the safe to be opened then the contents are checked and tested for any signs of heat or smoke damage.

For those who require the ultimate in fire resistance then the EN1047 DIS test is administered, which involves placing the safe in a furnace at 900°C for two hours, but instead of the safe being removed from the furnace after 2 hours the safe remains inside until the furnace itself cools - a more realistic simulation of a real fire. In addition there is 9 metre drop test to simulate the safe dropping between floors in the event of a serious fire.
